Smokin Joes MEMBERS Ian MacDonald, Rob Oswin, Phil Portelance, Walter Marx and Cathy Stern Smokin Joes BIO ![]() The formation of the band called Smokin' Joes was led by Ian MacDonald and Rob Oswin as their principle songwriters. Playing around Calgary, Banff and the BC interior as an all original rock act from 1991 thru 1993, they became well known as a great opening act for such artists as Colin James, Doug and the Slugs, Lee Aaron, The Commitments, The Tubes, Ray Lyell and the Storm, Trooper, The Kenny Shields Band, Lou Diamond Phillips and the Pipefitters, Maclean and Maclean, Harem Skarem, and the list goes on. This string of success lead to interest from a local record company, Metanoia Records, and an independent CD resulted. Sales are moderate and continue in spite of the lack of radio play and the fact that the band split-up in December 1993. (reformed in 1994-95) Smokin Joes LIVE EVENTS CALENDAR |
